1000 Days of War in Ukraine

Edited by Dimosthenis D. Dimopoulos

The ongoing conflict in Ukraine stands as a pivotal moment in modern history, testing the resilience and fortitude of the Ukrainian people. Amid significant challenges, Ukraine continues to defend its sovereignty and uphold democratic values. While the international community has imposed economic sanctions on Russia, the effectiveness of these measures in influencing the conflict’s trajectory remains a subject of considerable analysis. Moreover, the West has struggled to secure the support of the Global South, which has remained largely neutral and, in some instances, has continued cooperation with Russia. Ukraine’s steadfast commitment underscores the critical importance of sustained and enhanced support from global allies.
The complexities of this war extend beyond national borders, impacting global energy markets, international relations, and regional stability. The situation has intensified discussions on defense strategies, geopolitical alliances, and the shifting dynamics of power in both Eastern Europe and the broader global context. Additionally, concerns over environmental degradation and human rights violations have emerged, highlighting the multifaceted nature of the crisis.
This series of academic articles endeavors to provide an unbiased and objective examination of the numerous dimensions of the conflict in Ukraine. By exploring themes such as international cooperation, economic repercussions, energy security, environmental impacts, human rights violations, the challenges in garnering global support, and the role of information warfare, we aim to foster a comprehensive understanding of the situation. It is imperative that scholarly work approaches these subjects with rigor and impartiality, enabling policymakers and stakeholders to soberly evaluate strategies and work collaboratively toward achieving lasting peace and stability.
